Can You Save Battery Life on Your iPhone?
It kind of became a trend for people to complain about how much time this generation spends with their heads pointed down, eyes glued to their phones.
Commuting from home to work? You bet you’re scrolling through your friends’ Facebook page. Going from your room to the bathroom? Your eyes have already started scanning your surroundings for your phone so that you can make the most out of your time there.
When else are you going to find the time to watch those funny clips your group chat has been furiously texting about all day?
All this to say that it’s completely understandable why people from this day and age spend so much of their time on their phones. Yes, it’s a great source for entertainment as it’s been established, but it also represents a single point of contact with a wide variety of information and services.
Do you know how to save battery life?
You have quick access to a camera, you can use location services to find your way in just about any area, you can get some guidance from a translation app were you to be in desperate need of a few phrases in a foreign language, and you have all your social media platforms, and thus the pulse of local life just within your reach.
All these things considered, is our frustration with a rapidly draining battery really justified? Or perhaps you’ve never taken the time to consider just how much your phone delivers to you on a daily basis.
If you’d want your phone to stay charged longer, you’ve come to the right place. 😉
The truth is that there are ways that you can use your beloved devices without having to panic whenever you realize you don’t have your phone charger on you.
The following tips can be especially helpful if you’re a person with a full schedule and are always on the go or if you’re simply someone who’s had enough of their phone dying on them precisely at the most inconvenient moment.
Without any further ado, here are 3 things you can do to retain battery life as much as possible:
1. Turn on Airplane Mode
Maybe we’re stating the obvious but you don’t have to be on a plane to use this feature. And it’d be a shame not to since it can really help you prolong your phone’s battery life.
The way that this works is that by switching to Airplane Mode you interrupt your device from searching for signal, which it always does. Perhaps you didn’t know this but even when you do have a signal, your phone is always on the lookout for a better one, which is something that drains the battery rapidly.
2. Switch to Battery-Saver Mode
The sole existence of this option reveals the need of users across the world for battery life to last longer and, most importantly, their willingness to compromise somehow in order to make that happen. This is exactly why you’re reading this article, aren’t you?
Switching to a Low-Power Mode means that you voluntarily cut yourself access to some of the usual perks you get while being on your phone. That’s in principle. Practically, it means turning off a bunch of inconsequential functions.
Basically, your phone stays charged longer but you get to work with a dim display and no automatic email updates, among many other drawbacks.
3. Steer clear of extreme temperatures
Temperature might not even be something you consider when thinking about how you could possibly prevent your phone from dying so quickly.
But maybe it’s not such a bad idea to do so. Think about this: the widespread knowledge regarding Apple devices’ functionality is that they perform just fine in mediums varying from 62 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit (that would be 16 to 22 degrees Celsius) and so you should be wary of going beyond these limits.
For instance, if you use your phone in environments with higher temperatures, it may be the case that it won’t charge all the way, and instead, only go up to about 80%. If, however, the conditions are too cold, you might notice that the battery life is significantly lowered only resuming normal performance once it is back in its comfort zone.
Essentially, if you keep your phone out of the freezing cold but also away from direct sunshine, you should be good.
At the same time, however, don’t make the mistake of putting all the blame on you. If you’re running out of ideas to keep your phone from discharging so quickly, perhaps it’s time to consider the issue from another angle.
Maybe your phone is operating on a faulty battery and a simple iPhone battery replacement will do the trick.
No ingenious phone hack will give you back top performance if your device is running on a fundamentally damaged battery. So start there.
